Some people are good at grilling. Some people burn everything that they put on the grill. Here are some pro tips if you’re not quite confident in your grill skills:

  • Start your grill about 10 minutes before you’re going to be cooking. You can let it run a little longer if you have the time. This will allow the heat of the grill to burn off any leftover grease or food that is on the grill.
  • Turn your grill to a lower heat. This will take a little bit of time to cook the food, but you’re also less likely to burn it this way.
  • Use a grill that has a top grate that is away from the heat. You can put cooked food up there to stay warm without remaining on the heat.

Pay Attention Grill Safety 101

Grilling is a tasty and fast way to cook a meal, but it can be dangerous if you aren’t careful. With so many different people around, you might not be paying attention to your surroundings. A grill deals with both propane and fire. Make sure you focus on the task at hand. Exercise caution as you flip foods on the grill to ensure that your hands are arms do not get burned.

How to Grill the Perfect Burger

Burgers are a simple meal to cook for a backyard party. You simply cook up the meat, and you can have all kinds of different fixings and condiments on tables for your guests. Here’s a basic but satisfying recipe for starters, but if you’re looking for more complex flavor, there are many ways that you can customize for the perfect burger recipe:

  • 1 lb. 80/20 ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Fire up the grill so it can warm up to perfect grilling temperature. While you’re waiting, use your hands mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until evenly mixed. Press the mixture into a burger press to make the patties, then throw them on the grill. Grill for 12-14 minutes, turning once. Resist the temptation to press the burgers flat, as this will dry them out.

About a minute or two before you are finished cooking, brush the tops of the burgers with a little more barbecue sauce. Then remove them from the grill and serve on buns with your favorite toppings.

There are many great perks of hosting an outdoor party. For one, there is minimal clean up inside of the house when you’re done.
